Sweet Land of Liberty ornament is made using high-quality repurposed fabrics and joins my other patriotic ornaments using the same and similar fabrics so can coordinate beautifully and harmoniously. These are so much fun to make and coming from a military family myself, I think of those in my family who have served this country proudly!
A “frame” was cross-stitched in blue embroidery floss with the messages stitched in red on the “box” inside the frame. The fabric is pinned carefully around the frame and the red, white, and blue are in the perfect sequence! Pearlized pins are added to mimic stars.
The pearl beads and foam ball provide the shape were purchased from a small, woman-own business, Ornament Girls. The Ornament Girls site provides a free tutorial for the ribbon, ideas for adding embellishments.
Patriotic ornaments are special to me…my father was West Point graduate and served in the Army for 31 years; two of my brothers also served in the Army. My husband served in the Navy and later volunteered in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. His brother served in the Air Force; and children of dear friends served in the Marines. Our country is protected by men and women in ALL these forces!
These ornaments are made with precisely folded fabrics and pinned to the 3″ foam ball, embellished with pearlized pins. These are made by me in my smoke-free, pet-free and covid-free home. As there are many pins in these ornaments, they are NOT meant as toys for children or pets.
